TheMidnightRun
In the second part of the Bridget’s Brilliant Weekend posts, here are the pictures from Saturday night’s Midnight Run, aka when I spent 12 hours walking around London.
My friend Inua thought up the genius idea of the Midnight Run, and it’s a good ‘un. Basically a group of people walk through the city from 6pm to 6am, stopping off along the way for music, poetry, games, talks and general awesome things. I absolutely loved it. We played basketball and ‘rugball’ (rugby and football’s bastard lovechild), ate Chinese food, made a play, froze in Victoria Station, planted flowers, ate strawberries on a roundabout, watched the sunrise and walked lots and lots and lots. London at night is a whole new experience and I’m so glad I was involved. There might be a mini-Midnight Run in the winter so watch this space!
As a featured artist for the even with my collective, Rubix, I also got the chance to tell some stories and am going to write some poems in response to the event. I even managed to get a few promises from people to come to the RDC session on Tuesday after I read my poem about the Crew - result. I’m actually amassing quite a collection of running poems… and I have no idea what to do with them. Maybe I should start posting them up on here? Hmmm. Then you can all see quite how obsessed I’ve become!
